I gave Astra my raw footage. It edited the video.

Hey friends

GPT-6 Astra launched last week, and one of the most interesting demos wasn't coding or research.

It was video editing.

Creators are giving Astra folders of raw clips, describing the story they want, and getting back edited videos with selected takes, captions, tighter pacing, motion graphics, and multiple formats.

But there's one important detail: Astra isn't secretly Premiere Pro.

OpenAI's model page says Astra doesn't natively accept or export video. Instead, Astra acts like the creative director. Inside Codex, it uses video tools and plugins to transcribe footage, inspect frames, assemble the timeline, and render the finished file.

Here's how to actually set it up.
